Box Lacrosse

Text Box: The Vancouver Burrards of the VKMLA (Local Team)

Rules

Text Box: Box lacrosse is a sport played in a concrete arena similar to a hockey arena. The object of the game is to score as many goals as you can and prevent the opposition from scoring. The sport is played 5 on 5 and a goalie guards a triangular net. The penalties in this sport include: Interference, Roughing, Holding, and Goalie Interference. If you hit the goalie in the head it’s the other team’s ball. Although lacrosse is very complimentary to hockey, it is really more similar to basketball. Like basketball, and unlike hockey in most situations, lacrosse involves a full team of offense. There are no defensemen in lacrosse like basketball. Players cannot pass the ball to the goalie in the crease. You can only make a cross-check a player when they have the ball or they are inside the dotted line.

A lacrosse stick, a helmet with a face mask, slash guards, gloves, shoulder pads, mouth guard, a jock, and kidney pads are all used in the game of lacrosse to prevent serious injury. Knee pads are optional, but if you don’t like bruises on your knees, we would advise you to wear them. Also, if you are very accident prone, bleed a lot, hate getting hurt, and get bruises very easily this sport is not for you.
