The second category is the field category. Field events include the throwing events, and the jumping events. In the throwing events, you have to throw an object of a certain weight. In shot put, you have to throw a shot, which is a metal ball. In discus, you have to throw a discus,  in javelin, you have to throw a spear, and in hammer throw, you have to throw a hammer which is a heavy metal ball attached to a wire and handle. There are also jumping events. In long jump, you have to jump as far as you can into a sand pit. In triple jump, you have to jump as far as you can in three jumps. In high jump, you have to run up to a bar, and try to jump over it without any devices to help you. In Pole Vault, you have to run towards the mat, and use a flexible pole to jump over a bar.
